PRESIDENTS, INCOMING PRESIDENT'S, MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMEN

In my report December 94 I challenged every Club to set up a membership committee as required by our Constitution.

Part of the role of this committee is setting GOALS for membership (recruitment and retention) and making ita point of pride by club members to achieve your club’s objects.

To meet these objectives all members must be encouraged to be alert for new prospects and all members must be well informed Lions equipped to answer ­questions about membership for these prospective members.

INFORMATION EVENINGS run by our District Trainers and regular snippets about our Lions Organisation should be shared with club members CONSTANTLY.

ORIENTATION EVENINGS (possibly with partners and families) MUST be organised regularly for new members (both prior to and after induction).

Orientation means a thorough education on everything the word LION means - ­making sure the sponsor of a newmember becomes a PRACTICAL sponsor - a good understanding of Lionism at Club, District and International levels must be provided.

Making certain new members develop into ACTIVE Lions and that we keep them interested, happy and involved.

If your membership committees work successfully you will develop motivated and informed members. They will believe in and enjoy their club. They will consequently become vital salesmen and wanting and capable of spreading Lionism. They will be able to explain and demonstrate and be an example of our desire to improve the quality of life in our communities.

WE DO NEED three members on our committees - their tasks are numerous and they can ensure that our clubs' welfare is always TOP PRIORITY.

RE MEMBERSHIP REGISTER - TOP PRIORITY PLEASE.

In June, Treasurers of Clubs receive a per capita billing. Attached to this is International's current membership list for YOUR club.

Would current or incoming Presidents/Secretaries please ensure that this list corresponds with YOUR CLUBS OWN CURRENT MEMBERSHIP LIST - both names and the number of members you have in your club.

If these lists and/or numbers are not accurate PLEASE SEND, ATTACHED TO YOUR JULY M & A REPORT, a correct list of names and club membership numbers. List every member and thus ensure your Club is correctly debited International dues. Also ensuring that our District begins the Lions Year with an accurate number of members.
