Location
Lions Camp Krokodile is located on the beautiful Sunshine Coast just 90klm north of the Sunshine State's capital of Brisbane. The Currimundi Recreation Centre is situated right beside many kilometres of beautiful sandy surfing beach.
The area has many attractions and the most famous is Australia Zoo known around the world as being created by the Crocodile Hunter, the late Steve Irwin.
There are many shopping centres in close proximity and time should allow for some retail therapy for purchasing of souvenirs for friends and family back home.
CLIMATE
The Sunshine Coast has one of the most equitable climates in Australia.
Although the Camp is being held in winter, the days are quite mild with temperatures averaging 22 degrees Celsius.
Winter time in Queensland is the dry time so there should be no rain during your stay in Camp.
The subtropical Sunshine Coast enjoys plenty of sunshine, an average of 7 hours each day, 300 days each year.
Average Temperatures
Winter — June to August — 5-22°C / 41-72°F
It is important to understand that while the temperatures may be low, the UV index will reach 10, so it is important to wear the appropriate clothing and sun protection.
SELECTION AND AGE CRITERIA
The camp caters for up to 40 participants in total. These are selected on the basis of a mix of Australian and overseas youth and is limited to those aged between 17 and 20 at the time of the Camp.
All prospective Campers must apply through the Official Youth Exchange of their home country. Contact your local Lions Club for details.

CAMP KROKODILE ACTIVITIES
All Campers should be prepared to participate in all activities.
SURFING:
Because it is winter in Australia, the surf will not be too demanding. Prior to entering the surf, a full Surf education program will be delivered so that Campers are aware of the do's and don't of surfing in Australia.
Come prepared with your swim suits, or as we call them in Queensland, our togs.
OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES:
The camp site has Low and High Ropes courses that will lead to bonding and 'Team' spirit. No one will be forced to go beyond their capabilities or 'comfort zone' but you will learn more about yourself. Suitably qualified experienced staff will ensure your enjoyment and safety during these activities.
CULTURAL: Representing the Traditional Owners of the area and a genuine Australian Bush Band.
Each night there are no special events programmed, campers are expected to participate in a 10 minute presentation and sharing of their own country and cultures. Any aids (maps, photos etc) are welcome and Power Point presentations can be accommodated. Please advise any requirements prior to Camp. There will be limited opportunities to access the Internet at the Camp so campers should ensure they have completed their research before arrival Camper will also be invited to participate in a farewell concert.
AUSTRALIA ZOO:
A visit to Australia Zoo (home of the late Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter and his family) will be the highlight of your stay in Australia. Get up close and personal with Kangaroos and Koalas and enjoy reliving the experience when you return home through your camera. Make friends with other friends of the Australian bush.
See the vibrant Cassowary and the Emu, both being large birds which cannot fly, about the size of an Ostrich, and of course the ancient monster crocodiles that are a feature of the Zoo.
The Zoo has recently added a new African Section to go with a selection of animals from around the world.
SHOPPING/FREE TIME:
There will be enough free time during the Camp to allow you to enjoy the Swimming Pool, Basket-Ball Courts, Table Tennis and of course to do that last minute shopping at prices which are cheaper than the airport duty free stores.
UNDERWATER WORLD
UnderWater World is a multi-award winning tourist attraction located beachside on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. You will have a unique opportunity to explore 8 unique zones including Touch and Tell, Weird and Wonderful, Seal Island, Otter Empire, Fresh and Freaky, Billabongs and Backyards, Sharks Alive and Crawly Creatures! Walk amongst thousands of marine and freshwater animals including giant sharks, stingrays, sawfish and tropical reef fish without getting your feet wet. You can view the shark feeding or watch a shark dive from the 80 metre transparent tunnel in the 2.5 million litre Oceanarium. Their most popular attraction though is our highly entertaining seal and otter shows where you'll soon discover the highly amusing personalities of our family of mammals.
RAINFOREST EXPERIENCE
One of the activities will include a tour of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland with a rainforest walk to a waterfall and pool in one of the many National Parks in the region. This will be followed by a B-B-Q lunch
